Aragorn

Aragorn Elessar (= "Elf Stone"):
Heir of Isildur, Chieftain of the Dúnedain of the North. He grew up in Imladris where his mother Gilraen had brought him for safe-keeping (he was descendant of Elros). Elrond named him Estel (= "Hope"), because he was the only hope of his people to ever get united again. But this he only got to know when he had reached the age of 20 and received the two heirlooms of his house: the Ring of Barahir and the Shards of Narsil. Shortly after, he fell in love with Elrond's daughter Arwen. Though Elrond had come to love Estel as a son of his own, he permitted him to wed her only, if he reclaimed the throne of Gondor and Anor.
Aragorn did military service in Rohan and Gondor. He was called Thorongil (="Eagle of the Star") when he served Ecthelion II. in Gondor, because he used to wear a little silver eagle on his cloak. Ecthelion's son Denethor was glad when Aragorn left the country, he already suspected him to be the heir of the throne.
In the third Age, Gandalf told Aragorn that the One Ring was found again. He then brought Frodo and his friends to Rivendell and became part of the Fellowship. After Gandalf's fall in Moria, he led the companions on. After the final battle against Sauron and the destruction of the Ring, Aragorn became King of the Reunited Kingdom of Men and was called Elessar. He now married Arwen. Even then, Aragorn still often had to ride to war, often at the side of his faithful friend King Éomer of Rohan. 120 years later, he voluntarily passed out of life like his forefathers had done as well. He had one son, Eldarion, and several daughters.
