Elros

Elros (= either "Elf of the Spray" or "Star-foam"):
Son of Eärendil and Elwing, (twin?) brother of Elrond.
Just like his brother he was captured when Fëanor's sons attacked the Mouths of Sirion. Nothing bad happened to them, though, because Maglor protected both.
At the end of the First Age the Half-elves had to choose if they wanted to be counted among the immortal elves or the mortal humans. Elros chose the life of Men. The Valar appointed him first King of Númenor (called Tar-Minyatur). Elros built the tower and citadel of Armenelos which became the City of Kings. He was granted a life without sickness. In the year 442 SA (being 500 years old) he voluntarily passed out of life.
All of Elros' descendants (Aragorn being one of those) were blessed with a long life, too.
